In today’s episode, I’m going to talk about why knowing what to do is not enough to land your ideal role.

What you will learn:

  1. How to change your perspective on what is required to land a role
  2. What is really required to get results
  3. The importance of not taking rejection too personally

Change Your Perspective

It’s imperative that if you’re going to make a change in your career, you must change your attitude. But, try to avoid adopting the ‘how hard can it be’ mindset by assuming that you can figure everything out on your own. You don’t know what you don’t know and it is important to understand all of the pieces of the puzzle required to get results.

What is really required to get results

Some people who are trying to leave a job feel as if they have it under control. Commitment is always required to get the results. But, it depends on what you’re going after and how well you can translate your capabilities in a job search. Don’t just do what you think is merely necessary in a job search. You will have to go beyond a CV and resume. Be proactive!

Don’t Take Rejection Too Seriously

Rejection will come and it’s not for you to take it too seriously. You have to keep pushing yourself because you’re otherwise going to wonder maybe whether more effort would have helped you to achieve more. So keep pushing and find a strategy that works. Find those who you consider champions with regards to your career and practice reaching out. It can help with the rejection.
